The magnitude of $ \vec{a} = \overrightarrow{PQ}$ is the length of the arrow pointing from $ P$ to $ Q$ or from $ O$ to $ A$ , resp., that is,

In particular we have $ \vert s\vec{a}\vert = \vert s\vert\vert\vec{a}\vert$ .

Any vector whose magnitude is $ 1$ is called a unit vector.
